Study at Del Mar College: admission, tuition, aid, English and campuses in Corpus Christi

How to apply, compare 2026 costs, seek scholarships, learn English for free and choose among four Del Mar College locations.

A city college built for the Coastal Bend

Del Mar College is Corpus Christi’s public community college, with three teaching campuses and a workforce and community-education center. Local leaders established Corpus Christi Junior College in 1935; the first permanent college building opened on what is now Heritage Campus in 1942. The college now lists more than 100 degree and certificate options, from university-transfer study to technical training and two bachelor’s pathways. It serves students from Corpus Christi and surrounding Coastal Bend communities.

How to apply and what to prepare

Most first-time credit students start with the ApplyTexas application. Del Mar’s checklist then calls for Texas Success Initiative (TSI) placement or an approved exemption, official transcripts, and completion of the after-admission steps. Students age 21 or younger also need proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination before registration. Transfer, international, veteran, returning and dual-credit applicants have additional instructions, while noncredit learners register through Continuing Education. Begin with the college’s application checklist; the Student Enrollment Center can explain which route applies.

Degrees, careers and time to finish

Del Mar organizes more than 100 options into eight pathways. Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees are designed for transfer; Associate of Applied Science programs and certificates prepare students for work in areas such as nursing, sonography, dental hygiene, welding, industrial technology, culinary arts, business, cybersecurity, criminal justice and health information. Certificate of Achievement programs typically take about a year, while the college describes university-transfer associate degrees as a two-year starting point. Its Occupational Skills Awards range from 9 to 14 credit hours. Exact duration depends on the program map, prerequisites, course rotations, clinical selection and each student’s schedule. Del Mar also offers a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management and Leadership and an RN-to-BSN program.

2026 tuition and financial aid

For a typical 12-credit semester in Summer or Fall 2026, Del Mar publishes base tuition and fees of $1,417 for district residents, $2,017 for out-of-district Texas residents and $2,461 for out-of-state or foreign students. At 15 credits, the listed totals are $1,750, $2,500 and $3,055. These are base amounts: selected labs, repeated courses and program-specific costs can add fees, and the college advises students to check their final account after registration. Confirm the classification of your home address and consult the current tuition schedule.

Start federal aid with FAFSA, then check Del Mar Foundation scholarships and Texas grants or exemptions. The Foundation scholarship cycle ordinarily opens February 1 through April 30; the 2026 cycle is closed, so prospective students should check the next application window and each award’s criteria. Del Mar’s separate Freedom to Dream 2.0 cohort began in Fall 2026 and does not accept first-time Spring 2027 entrants. A proposed 3.0 waiver could cover tuition and basic fees for up to 60 credits beginning in 2027–28 for eligible district residents, but Del Mar states that its Board of Regents has not yet approved the proposal. Read the current eligibility and approval status before planning around it.

English classes for adults at no charge

For a learner who needs basic English before college-level coursework, Del Mar’s Adult Education and Literacy grant offers free ESL in Nueces County and nine other counties. Classes teach reading, writing, speaking and listening at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, online or in person; each session lasts nine weeks, with weekday morning or evening schedules listed. New students must attend the AEL-100N orientation, currently scheduled at Heritage Campus, and can register online or call Adult Basic Education. The program also describes credential evaluation for internationally trained professionals and the chance to co-enroll in selected trades or office-career training. This is a separate adult-learning route; it is not the same as credit admission or a guarantee of placement into a degree program. See the ESL registration and current schedule.

Four Corpus Christi locations, four different uses

Heritage Campus is the historic central site for Arts and Sciences, business, library and enrollment services. Windward Campus concentrates health sciences, public safety, emerging technology and industrial training. Oso Creek Campus on the Southside houses STEM, architecture, biosciences and the Culinary Institute, with student services in its Main Central Building. Center for Economic Development is the hub for continuing education, workforce training, personal enrichment and the Small Business Development Center. Del Mar says campus parking is free and permits are not currently required; students with a valid college ID can ride any RTA bus at no charge. Check the campus map and class location before travelling, since courses and services are distributed among the sites.

Choose the campus after you know the program, not just the address closest to home. Compare the academic plan with the 2026–27 catalog, ask whether a career program has selective admission, submit FAFSA early and confirm which campus hosts your class. Continuing Education courses have their own dates and fees; for those, check the department schedule rather than using the credit tuition table.

Bottom line

Check current details and choose according to your budget, time and way of travelling.
