Restaurante Chipi-Chipi

Chipi-Chipi began as a small neighbourhood shop where locals could sit down for wine and tapas. Over time, the grill, dining rooms and garden shaped the larger restaurant that still carries the feel of a family gathering place. The business dates its opening to 1 January 1960 and recalls a late-1980s renovation designed by La Palma artist Luis Morera. On the table, charcoal cooking and island recipes set the tone: Google Maps’ listing and review themes point to grilled cheese, wrinkled potatoes, goat stew, chicharrones and picadillo soup. The restaurant also publishes food and wine menus, with a format suited to both a straightforward lunch and a family celebration. This is not a quick stop in the historic centre: it sits in the Velhoco area, and that change of pace—greenery, generous dining rooms and the smell of the grill—makes the meal part of a wider visit to the island capital. A long family history and recognisable Canarian cooking matter more here than seasonal theatrics.
