Studying at Valencia College: admission, tuition, English support and campuses

How to apply to Valencia College, what 2026–27 tuition costs, which aid and English pathways are available, and what each Orange and Osceola location offers.

Valencia College is the public two-year college serving Orange and Osceola counties, but “the Orlando campus” is not one address. The district includes eight regular campuses in Orlando, Winter Park and Kissimmee, along with specialist sites for accelerated job training and public-safety academies. That spread matters before applying: the same degree may use more than one teaching location, and a program’s assessment office, laboratory, student services desk and classroom may be in different buildings.

The institution began in 1967 as Valencia Junior College, changed its name to Valencia Community College in 1971, and adopted the name Valencia College in 2011 as it added bachelor’s degrees. West Campus became its first permanent site; East, Osceola and Winter Park followed as the district grew. Later, Lake Nona, Poinciana and the UCF-shared Downtown site extended its reach. Today, the college combines transfer degrees, career programs, continuing education and short-term certifications for students at different stages.

For a credit-bearing program, start with the online admission application and choose a degree or certificate. Valencia currently lists a $35 nonrefundable application fee. Degree-seeking applicants generally need proof of high-school graduation or an equivalent credential and official transcripts; transfer applicants should request records from each prior college. The college may admit some students without a high-school diploma as non-degree-seeking students, but that status does not automatically qualify them for a degree, financial aid or every course. Selective programs such as nursing, public safety and some health fields have separate prerequisites, applications or testing.

Tuition depends on residency, level and course. Valencia’s approved 2026–27 schedule lists lower-division tuition and required fees at $103.06 per credit for Florida residents and $390.96 for nonresidents. At that published rate, 30 lower-division credits amount to $3,091.80 before books, lab or program charges; 60 credits at the same rate would be $6,183.60, but future-year prices can change. Valencia’s cost-of-attendance budget also estimates housing, food, transportation, supplies and personal expenses; that budget is a financial-aid planning estimate, not an amount billed by the college.

Financial aid begins with the FAFSA and Valencia’s federal school code, 006750. Depending on eligibility, students may be considered for Pell Grants, Florida Student Assistance Grant, work-study, loans, Bright Futures or Valencia Foundation awards. The Foundation uses a common scholarship application for many awards, but criteria, deadlines and enrollment requirements differ. Applicants should first confirm that their degree or certificate is aid-eligible, submit transcripts, and check MyVC for outstanding documents. A scholarship or grant is not automatic, and short noncredit courses do not necessarily qualify.

Students still developing academic English have two different starting points. For adult language learning outside a degree plan, Valencia Continuing Education offers ESOL classes and an oral evaluation to help select a level. For a credit-seeking student, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) builds classroom reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. After applying, students take the PERT and, when needed, ACCUPLACER LOEP for language placement. The catalog lists EAP courses at several levels and campuses; some EAP credits can count as electives toward an A.A., up to the published limit. Ask an advisor whether a course is credit-bearing, where it meets and whether your current level is ready for college composition.

The Associate in Arts is a transfer degree requiring 60 college-level credits, including general education and electives. A full-time student taking about 15 credits each fall and spring term can often plan around two academic years, but placement courses, prerequisites, work schedules and course availability may extend that timeline. Associate in Science degrees are career-focused and have program-specific credit totals; certificates can be shorter, while health and public-safety programs can add selective admission or clinical training. Valencia’s degree and certificate catalog and degree pathways show the current requirements. DirectConnect to UCF offers Valencia A.A. and selected A.S. graduates a defined transfer route, subject to UCF policy and program limits.

Choose the site by the course and the support you need. Downtown Campus shares buildings with UCF and brings general studies, hospitality, culinary and accelerated training into Creative Village. East Campus anchors the School of Arts and Entertainment. Lake Nona Campus concentrates science and biotechnology learning near Medical City. West Campus is a large health-sciences and technical hub. Winter Park Campus is a compact site by Park Avenue and SunRail. In Kissimmee, Osceola Campus and Poinciana Campus have distinct labs, programs and addresses. The School of Public Safety combines degrees with first-responder training. The standalone Northwest Orlando training center, Advanced Manufacturing Training Center and Fire Training Facility serve specific short-term or academy programs.

Parking and transit also differ by site. Valencia says accepted students can apply for a free parking decal at regular campuses outside Downtown, but it does not guarantee a space. Downtown requires a separate, paid permit for its garages. LYNX operates across Orange and Osceola counties and has stops near Valencia locations; Downtown is a short walk from LYNX Central Station, while Winter Park is close to SunRail. Check the route planner and campus map for the specific building, and confirm training-center access before driving there.

A useful first conversation with Valencia should settle four things: the exact credential, the campus where required classes meet, the placement path for English and math, and the net cost after aid. Use the admission application and checklist, the FAFSA and financial-aid steps, and the EAP course information to prepare. Then ask an advisor about transfer credit, course sequence and term dates before paying for a class or traveling to a campus.

Bottom line

Check current details and choose according to your budget, time and way of travelling.
