How to study at Savannah Tech: admission, tuition, English and campuses

Admission, 2026–27 tuition, financial aid, adult English classes and six Savannah Technical College locations.

Maskay editorial team Updated

Savannah Technical College grew from the Opportunity School, a workforce-training project that began in 1929, and now serves coastal Georgia with technical programs, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and adult education. Its sites range from a broad main campus on White Bluff Road to aviation and workforce labs, regional campuses and a downtown culinary institute. The college’s four-county service area includes Chatham, Effingham, Liberty and Bryan; its principal campuses are in Chatham, Effingham and Liberty, with an additional military education center at Fort Stewart.

Choose a credential before a campus

The catalog spans aviation maintenance, business and technology, health sciences, industrial trades, public services, general studies and culinary arts. Students can pursue associate degrees, diplomas and technical certificates of credit; some short workforce and continuing-education classes do not lead to college credit. Program length depends on course sequence, prerequisites, full- or part-time study and selective admission. Savannah Tech’s Associate of Science in Nursing curriculum lists four semesters after entry into the nursing sequence, but applicants first complete prerequisites and compete for a seat. Confirm the active catalog and program map before planning a graduation date.

Admission and first steps

Most applicants must be at least 16 and provide a high-school diploma or GED; requirements vary, and some health programs have higher age thresholds or separate selection. Placement in reading, writing and math may be required, though qualifying grades, test results or prior college work can exempt some students. Apply online, submit official transcripts and answer Georgia residency questions if seeking in-state tuition. New students meet an adviser before registering. General admission does not guarantee a place in nursing or another selective program.

Savannah Tech’s Adult Education English classes are free for eligible applicants who live or work in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham or Liberty County. Classes are offered online and in person in Savannah, Pooler, Midway, Rincon and Hinesville. Registration is by appointment, not at the campus desk; students bring an acceptable photo ID and take a placement test. Adult ESL strengthens English skills but is separate from admission to credit-bearing courses. Ask an adviser about academic English and placement before entering a regular program.

What published tuition adds up to

For 2026–27, standard associate, diploma and technical-certificate credit courses are listed at $107 per credit for Georgia residents, $214 for out-of-state students and $428 for international students. Twelve credits cost $1,284, $2,568 or $5,136 in tuition. Required semester fees total $426, bringing those examples to $1,710, $2,994 or $5,562 before books, tools, uniforms, transportation and program-specific costs. Commercial truck driving and the Basic Law Enforcement academy use different fee schedules. Residency status and financial aid can change an individual bill.

Complete the FAFSA to be considered for federal grants and college aid, then review Georgia’s HOPE grant and scholarship rules and the HOPE Career Grant for eligible workforce programs. Savannah Tech’s Foundation posts additional awards tied to fields of study, GPA, county, financial need or military status. Its online scholarship application matches applicants to awards they may qualify for, but criteria and deadlines differ. Compare current tuition with the exact program and aid confirmed by the college.

Six locations, six study settings

The Savannah Campus has the broadest program mix and student services, health-science facilities, tutoring and learning spaces. Crossroads specializes in aviation training, workforce education and testing; Effingham combines academic courses with health, business, industrial and public-service programs; Liberty serves Hinesville and Liberty County with a broad technical offering. Fort Stewart’s Army Education Center has classrooms and an EMS lab, but sits inside a military installation, so visitors must confirm access. Downtown, the Savannah Culinary Institute gives culinary and baking students teaching kitchens, a student bakery and a working restaurant. The six profiles below explain each site’s role and facilities.

Students who drive can use unrestricted campus parking unless signs, cones or barricades reserve a space; the college says student vehicles do not need registration. CAT’s public transit map marks Savannah Technical College as a destination, but routes and times vary by campus. Check the current schedule against the exact address, especially for Crossroads or sites outside Chatham County. Begin with the online application, review the 2026–27 tuition table, compare Foundation scholarships, and check adult ESL enrollment.
