About Coco Taqueria Yonkers
Birria is only one part of the Lake Avenue kitchen
Coco Taqueria’s birria tacos use short-rib meat with cheese, onion and cilantro, accompanied by consommé. The combination gives a specific reason to choose them over an ordinary steak taco, which comes as three pieces with onion and cilantro. Carnitas uses braised pork; barbacoa is goat. Cecina, tongue, tripa and pork ear extend the meat selection beyond the usual chicken-and-beef split.
Alambre combines steak with peppers, onion and Oaxaca cheese. Campechano pairs steak and chorizo, while the taco árabe uses marinated pork with chipotle mayonnaise. The vegetable taco combines zucchini, carrot, corn, peppers and onion. Taco Duster takes another direction, with a crisp shell, seasoned meat, lettuce, tomato, cream and cheese. It is presented separately from the soft-taco list.
The kitchen also offers handmade thick sopes, corn empanadas, flautas and cemitas. A breakfast burrito includes egg, chorizo, rice, beans and cheese. Chilaquiles can take red or green salsa with fried eggs; soups include pork pozole with hominy and tostadas. That range makes the restaurant useful when a shared order needs more than tacos.
Two Westchester addresses
- Yonkers: 138 Lake Avenue, 914-410-3165. Ordering services list a closing time of 11 p.m.; morning openings vary between the business’s services, so call for an early breakfast visit.
- Sleepy Hollow: 84 Beekman Avenue, 914-909-2057. The business’s location page lists daily 11 a.m.–10 p.m.
Sleepy Hollow is a separate village, not another Yonkers neighborhood. Pickup and delivery ordering are available for Yonkers; the main phone connects to that restaurant rather than a separate delivery department. Select the address before completing an order.
