About Taquería La Frontera White Plains
Mexico City street food on Battle Avenue
La Frontera began in White Plains in 2018, bringing a family’s Mexico City street-food repertoire to Battle Avenue. The small dining space favors a focused order of tacos, a torta or a corn-based antojito. Carnitas, chorizo, bistec and pastor sit alongside mushrooms and meatless pastor made with soy, so a mixed group can keep the same taco format without choosing the same filling.
The usual finish is onion, cilantro and salsa, with lime alongside. Four- and five-taco orders are practical ways to build a meal; the merchant’s delivery menu places both among its frequently ordered items. Lengua and other specialty cuts extend the choice beyond the familiar grilled meats, although those additions depend on the ordering menu’s availability.
For a different texture, the pambazo starts with bread dipped in red salsa, then griddled and filled with potato and chorizo, lettuce, cheese and cream. Huaraches use a handmade corn base with beans, sauce and garnishes. The Mexican quesadilla and the larger flour-tortilla Tex-Mex version are separate preparations. Horchata, jamaica and tamarind aguas frescas give the meal a less fizzy accompaniment.
