Citrin and Mélisse is the culinary project of Chef Josiah Citrin in Santa Monica, California. Under one roof, two distinct concepts coexist: Citrin, a modern Californian cuisine restaurant distinguished with one Michelin star, and Mélisse, the establishment that was a benchmark in Los Angeles for twenty years and which the chef has revived with two Michelin stars.

Citrin presents itself as an accessible and welcoming experience, built around a large bar. Guests can choose between an à la carte menu and a prix fixe menu, a formula the house describes as a fresh take on its love of hospitality and passion for exciting and delicious food. The venue also features a separate space, Citrin Glass Off.

Mélisse: A restaurant within a restaurant

Mélisse operates as an intimate 14-seat dining room located at the back of the establishment, led by Chef/Partner Ken Takayama. The concept is presented as a culinary journey guided by chefs and sommeliers, where the kitchen and dining room form a single space. The menu consists of eighteen courses and relies on California suppliers, with producers ranging from San Diego to Napa Valley. The cuisine combines global flavors with classic and contemporary techniques.

Sourcing and product philosophy

The restaurant works with California farmers and selects the most unique and best ingredients available, according to its own presentation. That relationship with local suppliers is the foundation of both Citrin's menu and Mélisse's tasting menu.

25th Anniversary Celebration

The site dedicates a section to Mélisse's 25th anniversary, a milestone that frames the restaurant's trajectory and its continuity in the new space shared with Citrin.
