About Taqueria La Nueva Overland Park
From an Olathe truck to an Antioch Road restaurant
Juan Lozano and Julia Rohrer started Taqueria La Nueva as a food truck in August 2019, drawing on the cooking Lozano knew from a ranch near Arandas in the highlands of Jalisco. The permanent Overland Park restaurant followed in 2021. It retained the street-taco focus while adding indoor counter service and a full bar.
Pastor is the house specialty: marinated pork cooked on a trompo. Quesabirria offers another center of gravity, enclosing slow-cooked beef and cheese in a taco with consommé alongside. It was already a leading order in the owners’ early interviews. A mixed plate can move from those familiar choices into lengua, cachete, tripa or suadero; asada, chorizo, carnitas, chicken and ordinary birria remain available.
The same fillings can take different forms. A mini quesadilla or mulita layers cheese and meat between tortillas, while a torta uses bread and a burrito builds a larger wrapped meal. Meat by the pound is another way to assemble a shared order. Horchata and jamaica sit alongside bottled Mexican sodas; the restaurant’s bar gives it a longer sit-down role than the original truck.
Antioch Road and the regional addresses
The Overland Park location is 12561 Antioch Road; 913-766-5001. Sunday–Thursday hours are 10 a.m.–10 p.m.; Friday–Saturday extends to 11 p.m. Direct online ordering and delivery listings serve this branch.
- Westport: 3906 Waddell Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri; 816-321-1054. Sunday–Thursday 11 a.m.–midnight, Friday–Saturday until 3 a.m.
The business also operates a food-truck service in Olathe. That mobile counter takes orders in person or through its delivery listing rather than by telephone, and weather can interrupt service. It should not be treated as an interchangeable late-night restaurant address.
