About El Fogón Overland Park
Start with the tortilla and finish with the salsa
El Fogón makes its tortillas and salsas on the premises and cooks entrées to order. Its Metcalf Avenue counter is built around a compact set of fillings: carne asada, grilled chicken, chorizo, pastor, barbacoa and carnitas. The street taco keeps onion and cilantro close to the meat. Barbacoa, a marinated beef filling here, appears repeatedly in favorable customer accounts, alongside the pastor and asada burrito.
The salsa choices make a mixed taco order more interesting than repeating the same dressing. Tomatillo and red salsa are listed as mild, roasted salsa as medium, green as hot and orange as very hot. A fresh tortilla, the filling and a measured addition of salsa are enough to make several different combinations; the palest color should not be treated as a reliable guide to heat.
Diablitos change the texture to a crisp tostada with cheese and a chosen meat. Quesadillas come in corn and flour versions. Burritos contain beans, cheese, rice and pico de gallo; the vegetarian version adds grilled onion and bell pepper, lettuce and the same rice-and-bean foundation. Tortas use bread with beans, cheese, pico, avocado, lettuce and mayonnaise. A three-taco combo adds rice, charro beans and a drink.
Lunch, dinner and collection
The address is 10450 Metcalf Avenue; 913-642-1819. Monday–Saturday service runs 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m.; Sunday is closed. Direct carryout ends at 7:30 p.m., thirty minutes before the restaurant. Third-party services also list delivery for this address. The phone is the restaurant’s general contact, with no separate delivery-only line published.
The menu’s fajita-style larger plates include El Volcán, combining asada, chorizo and pastor with onion, bell pepper and cheese. It is a different scale of meal from a few individual tacos, with rice, charro beans and homemade tortillas alongside.
