The International Boulevard truck and its wide menu

Tacos Sinaloa began in East Oakland in 1999 under Guadalupe Bueno and remains a family-operated business. Its International Boulevard truck offers a direct taco-counter format: choose the filling, then onion, cilantro and salsa complete the order. The range of cuts is a significant part of its appeal for someone who wants to move beyond the same two familiar meats.

Asada, pastor, carnitas, chicken and chorizo share the menu with beef cheek/head meat, tongue, suadero, pork stomach and tripitas. Shrimp and fish provide another route. The current International Boulevard ordering menu specifically lists asada, shrimp and the corresponding burritos among its featured choices. A taco order gives a smaller introduction than the substantial super burrito; the latter is a separate size in the ordering menu, not simply another name for a standard burrito.

The wider published menu includes squash with zucchini, corn, tomato and onion; mushrooms sautéed with tomato, garlic and queso; and cactus with tomato, onion and queso. These vegetable preparations are worth distinguishing from the rice-and-bean veggie taco, which also carries crema and cheese. Seafood extends into shrimp or fish ceviche tostadas and shrimp-and-octopus cocktails. Availability should follow the chosen counter's ordering menu.
