About lloyd Taco Factory North Buffalo

A food-truck idea with its own tortilla factory

lloyd began serving Buffalo from a truck in July 2010 and opened the Hertel Avenue Taco Factory in 2015. Making tortillas became a central part of that restaurant: the company worked with John and Kristi Mora and their family recipe to establish its corn-to-tortilla process. The kitchen describes its approach as scratch cooking, from the meat seasoning to the sides and sauces.

The Old School taco combines a corn tortilla, Monterey Jack, cabbage, Chimi, Roja and cilantro with a chosen protein. Braised beef, grilled chicken, slow-roasted pork and stewed black beans are the foundation. The cabbage and paired sauces give this taco a different finish from a plain onion-and-cilantro order.

New School preparations are complete combinations. Dirty South brings buttermilk-fried chicken, kale, bacon aioli, waffle pieces and maple syrup. Crispy Fish pairs pollock with cabbage, radish, chipotle mayonnaise and Chimi. Skinny Thai uses fried tofu with peanut sauce, pickled cucumber, radish, scallion and cilantro. Peanut, soy and wheat are relevant ingredients in that last preparation. Burritos adapt the same ideas to flour tortillas, while the El Camino bowl drops the tortilla and keeps the rice, beans and toppings.
