About Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms
Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms, a dining experience and accommodation in Wales
Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms is a establishment that combines a restaurant and accommodation, located in Eglwys Fach, Machynlleth, in the county of Powys (Wales). The project is led by chef Gareth Ward, as indicated by the title and the information on the site. The offering is built around a full tasting menu dinner experience and a one-night stay, in a rural and secluded setting.
The dinner experience
The restaurant offers a dinner experience starting from £450 plus 20% VAT per person. The menu is not adapted for people with food allergies, intolerances, or dislikes, and no substitutions or modifications to dishes are offered. The majority of dishes contain all major food allergens as well as alcohol and chillies. The booking diary is released two months in advance. A discretionary service charge is added to the final bill.
Accommodation
The establishment offers three types of rooms. The House Room is located in the main house and is designed for a comfortable stay; its price is £330. The Studio is located beneath the magnolia tree, with views of the gardens and an outdoor terrace, and is dog friendly; its price is £550. The Garden Room features a log-burning fire and a terrace or balcony overlooking the grounds; its price is £714. The stay offered is a single night together with the dinner experience.
Weddings and events
Ynyshir hosts everything from intimate dinners to exclusive-use celebrations. Each event is shaped around the people and the occasion, with an offering that includes food, bold flavours, and relaxed hospitality in a setting of its own. The company offers the possibility of celebrating weddings, milestones, and gatherings in a different setting.
Practical information
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Friday only. Gates open at 3pm for guests staying overnight, with check-in recommended between 3pm and 4pm. Pre-dinner drinks are served at 5pm and the dinner experience begins shortly after, including for those who have booked dinner only. A light breakfast is served in your room at 9am the following morning and check-out is at 10:30am. There is no dress code.
The easiest way to get to us is to drive, using the postcode SY20 8TA and not the name 'Ynyshir', which corresponds to a village located two hours away. The closest train station is Machynlleth, 6 miles away. Taxis must be pre-booked in advance due to our location. It is also possible to land small helicopters and stay overnight on the grounds, by prior arrangement by phone or email.
Due to the remote location, all sales are final and non-refundable; travel insurance is advisable. However, with at least two weeks' notice, you may reschedule your reservation. Children and teenagers are welcome, but no alternatives to the menu are offered and they must be prepared to experience it in full. We discourage small infants and babies from joining, as the experience includes music and a disco ball.
