Maca de Castro
Maca de Castro’s restaurant in Port d’Alcúdia interprets Mallorcan and Mediterranean cooking through local ingredients, produce from its own garden and carefully chosen wine pairings.
About Maca de Castro
Maca de Castro, contemporary Majorcan cuisine in Puerto de Alcúdia
Maca de Castro is a Mallorcan chef at the helm of a restaurant in the Port of Alcúdia, in Mallorca. Her proposal centers on creative and Mediterranean cuisine, with a contemporary and bold interpretation of the island's recipe book. The establishment is part of the DCastro Group, a gastronomic group from which the island’s flavours, local produce and culinary tradition are projected.
Local produce and own vegetable garden in Sa Pobla
The cuisine is based on locally sourced ingredients and on a search for Mallorcan producers and raw materials that the chef had been doing before the local trend became widespread. Among the elements that the restaurant itself highlights are caproig, fresh seafood, mare’s milk and vegetables grown in its garden in Sa Pobla. Self-sufficiency is proposed as a working system and as a link between the team and the origin of what is served.
Dishes and style
The dishes are presented as a celebration of the distinctive character of Mallorca, with a contemporary staging. The proposal falls within the categories of creative, Mallorcan and Mediterranean cuisine, and is based on respect for the land as the declared axis of the project.
Dining room, wines and pairing
The dining room is conceived as a careful environment in which there are references to the vineyards of the island and to the barrel aging. The restaurant pays attention to the pairing and gathers wines of international origin along with others with unique stories, with the aim of accompanying the dishes according to the tastes of the diner.
An experience without background music
The gastronomic experience is described as a space apart from passing fashions, in which silence and the absence of background music work as a blank canvas for the kitchen. The chef presents herself as an artisan and author who composes with flavours, in a proposal that the restaurant places on the margins of labels.
