Oregon Opportunity Grant 2026–27: award amounts, SAI, and the closed deadline

OOG prioritized residents with SAI up to 8,000 who filed FAFSA or ORSAA by May 15, 2026. The deadline passed, and awards are made until funds run out.

The Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG) is Oregon’s broad need-based state grant for residents pursuing a first associate or bachelor’s degree at a participating school. It can be used at community colleges and four-year campuses, but amounts vary by sector and enrollment; it is not a single award and does not automatically cover summer.

For 2026–27, the full-time annual chart listed roughly $1,224–$4,320 at community colleges and $1,800–$8,352 at four-year campuses. Eligibility considers 12-month Oregon residency, a first degree, SAI up to 8,000, admission, and progress. Undocumented students and DACA recipients may use ORSAA if they cannot file FAFSA.

The priority FAFSA/ORSAA date was May 15, 2026, and has passed. Oregon Student Aid allocates funds until they are exhausted; a later application does not guarantee an award. By October 12, the agency had indicated timely authorized applicants were approved, but fall enrollment and remaining funds should be confirmed individually. Authorization does not guarantee disbursement until campus steps are complete.

OOG does not pay for summer. File FAFSA or ORSAA annually, confirm your campus received the data, and review your aid notice. Ask how credits alter the amount and whether outside grants change your balance. Do not invent 2027–28 dates: check the official page when the new calendar appears.

If you missed the date, file FAFSA anyway for federal aid and ask about campus scholarships, emergency grants, or local programs. The OOG profile explains amounts and limits, and the Oregon Student Aid profile links to application and help.

Before budgeting, request a written offer separating tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meals, books, and transportation. State grants often reduce only eligible charges and may change after Pell or other scholarships are applied. Do not commit money based on a chart maximum.

Your campus office should confirm missing documents, institutional eligibility, and disbursement timing. The program profile expands on the criteria; the public-agency profile links to applications, deadlines, and official help.

Research checked on October 12, 2026 against official or institutional sources. Past deadlines are identified, and eligibility is distinguished from an actual award. Confirm the cycle, your file, and available funds with the agency and your college financial-aid office.

Bottom line

OOG depended on filing by May 15 and available funding; confirm individual authorization and check the next calendar when published.
