Hollywood’s youth soccer map runs through two public recreation fields and clubs with different expectations. Hollywood FC has preschool sessions, no-tryout recreational teams, a training-only academy and selected competitive tiers. Cyclones FC / AFA Academy trains at Dowdy Field and separates early pre-competitive groups from tryout-based teams. A family is choosing more than a coach: the child’s age, appetite for competition, weekly calendar and length of commitment all shape the experience.
Hollywood FC’s 2026–27 fee menu gives families a concrete starting point: $660 per recreational season, $145 per month for academy training without games, and $1,400–$2,100 for Select, Elite and Premier payment options. Competitive team fees for referees and tournaments, plus required uniforms, are additional. The PK program for ages two and three meets once a week. Recreational players do not try out and everyone plays; Elite and Premier are explicitly not for beginners, and require a tryout and invitation. Before comparing headline prices, ask which route fits the player and request the total team cost.
The club lists Boggs Field at 2310 N 23rd Avenue and Dowdy Fields at 2161 Johnson Street. Boggs also houses the club’s Soccer Shop for parents and its performance gym, with strength, conditioning, recovery and injury-prevention work. Hollywood West Park is designated for camps only. The City’s park pages describe public amenities and parking, but team assignment and field status must be checked separately. The addresses span different parts of Hollywood; opening a route to the assigned field is more useful than planning around the club name alone.
Cyclones’ AFA Academy lists players ages four to eighteen: birth years 2018–2020 in pre-competitive groups and 2009–2017 for competitive teams. Competitive entry requires a tryout, and the club names EDP, SFYSA and UPSL among the tournaments its older teams enter. Clinics and camps are additional options. Its public Hollywood page does not give one year-round weekly timetable or a general fee, so families should ask for the age-specific schedule and season total, including kit, tournaments and travel. Older family comments describe coaches emphasizing passing technique and children enjoying play; these are past impressions, not a current staff guarantee.
Hollywood itself is not the home of a verified professional first-division team in this comparison. Nearby South Florida has Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer and Fort Lauderdale United’s women in the Gainbridge Super League, a USSF Division I professional competition played in Davie. The men’s Fort Lauderdale United team is slated for USL League One in 2027, a third-division league. These teams add a professional scene to the region, not an academy affiliation. Compare no-tryout recreation with selected competition, then confirm the child’s field, cost and terms through the clubs’ current program information.
Confirm the child’s team, current field assignment and full season cost before registering.
