About Agli Amici 1887
Agli Amici 1887: Italian Cooking with More Than a Century of History in Udine
Agli Amici 1887 is a restaurant with more than 130 years of tradition in Godia, Udine. Michela and Emanuele Scarello lead the restaurant, which they describe as the starting point for their project; the sign “Hic manebimus optime” remains above the door. The cooking centers on finding the essence of each ingredient and leaving out the unnecessary.
Ingredients and Cooking
The kitchen starts with fresh regional ingredients: line-caught sea bass; langoustines and sea urchins from Istria; seaweed from the Grado Lagoon and Gulf of Trieste; pezzata rossa beef and Friulian pork; vegetables, especially Godia potatoes; and wild herbs gathered from permanent meadows.
Beyond the Restaurant: Pastry and Chocolate
The project includes its own line of pastries and chocolates. The catalog features seasonal offerings such as panettone, cremino, pralines, and Christmas nougat, with delivery in Udine and shipping across Italy. For Easter, the shop has offered artisan colombe and spring pralines; in 2024, the colomba line included a classic version with candied orange and icing. These offerings are presented as limited editions.
Other Locations and Experiences
The company also operates beyond Udine. Agli Amici Rovinj in Croatia received a second Michelin star in 2024, and Agli Amici Dopolavoro, on Isola delle Rose at JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, received a Michelin star with chef Lorenzo Lai under the direction of Emanuele and Michela Scarello. The Udine restaurant has held special evenings featuring spring menus from Rovinj and Venice. The group also offers banquet services.
Team and Careers
The restaurant accepts job applications through its “Lavora con noi” page, which details available positions and how to apply. The company values experience at Michelin-starred restaurants as well as applications from young people with substantial banquet experience.
Seasonal Break
The restaurant listed a break from July 15 through September 20, 2026, with reopening planned for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, alongside the renovation of its spaces.
