About La Bastide de Moustiers

La Bastide de Moustiers: Alain Ducasse’s Hotel and Restaurant in Provence

La Bastide de Moustiers is a hospitality property in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, in France’s Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region. It combines a four-star hotel with a fine-dining restaurant recognized with a Michelin star and a Green Star. Part of Maison Ducasse, the property is presented as an 18th-century country house surrounded by lavender and centuries-old olive trees.

Alain Ducasse discovered the property while riding through Provence and bought it from a master ceramicist in 1994. He renovated it with local craftspeople and designer Tonia Peyrot, preserving the building’s original character and adding decorative objects collected on his travels. The property describes itself as a welcoming home rooted in its region, retaining the feel of an authentic inn where luxury and simplicity sit naturally together.

Accommodations: 11 Rooms and 2 Suites

The hotel has 11 rooms and two suites in the main house and in separate pavilions throughout the grounds. The property includes a four-hectare private park, a heated outdoor pool, its own kitchen garden, and enclosed private parking. Breakfast is served at the table or in the room.

Michelin-Starred Fine Dining

The restaurant, recognized with a Michelin star and a Green Star, serves on a shaded terrace overlooking the valley or in indoor dining rooms designed by Alain Ducasse. Its cooking is described as sincere and authentic, centered on vegetables and seasonality, with refined technique in service of the ingredients. The Green Star recognizes the property’s sustainability commitments.
