Domaine de Biar is a four-star hotel in Lavérune, within the Montpellier metropolitan area. It occupies a former Montpellier folie, a country retreat characteristic of the region, and brings together architectural heritage, a natural setting, and hospitality. The hotel offers rooms and suites for two guests, ranging from 18 to 56 square meters. Options include Maguelone (20 m²), Augustin Coste (33 m²), Henriette (18 m²), Guilhem (35 m²), Aurore (26 m²), Magali (53 m²), Eden (24 m²), Genesis (54 m²), Henri Marès (24 m²), Bonnier de la Mosson (44 m²), Cocoon (26 m²), Jacques Vabre (44 m²), and Canopée (56 m²).

Rooms use heat-pump systems for climate control. They have no television or other digital devices, while free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The building retains its Napoleonic-era staircase and has no elevator. Pets are welcome for an additional nightly fee per animal. Free monitored parking is available from 7 a.m. to midnight, with 24/7 video surveillance. A concierge assists guests with luggage between the parking area and hotel using an electric cart.

La Table de Biar: Languedoc Cooking

The estate’s restaurant, La Table de Biar, is led by chef Mathieu Garcin. Its menu draws on local and organic ingredients selected from regional producers, with dishes inspired by the Languedoc. The restaurant has earned the Écotable label and two Gault & Millau toques for 2024. It serves lunch and dinner. An organic breakfast buffet is offered daily from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Henri Mares room or, during summer, on the terrace. The kitchen can accommodate dietary needs and allergies when notified at least 48 hours in advance. There is no room service or separate bar; terrace access for drinks is reserved for restaurant guests.

Wellness, Pool, and Activities

The wellness area offers massages, facial treatments, holistic rituals, and a hammam using natural products. It operates daily by advance reservation. Guests can use the hammam at no additional charge when they reserve a 30-minute time slot. The unheated outdoor pool is open from June through September, daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer season; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Yoga classes are available on request, and electric bikes can be rented subject to availability. Smoking is strictly prohibited in guest rooms and indoor areas.

Heritage Tours

For the European Heritage Days, Domaine de Biar opens for guided tours on September 19 and 20, 2026. Tours last 40 minutes and are limited to 10 people per group, with four daily times: 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. Space is limited, and advance reservations are required.
