Esmée
A French- and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant led by Andreas Bagh, with group menus, private spaces and a wine list to complement the à la carte offering.
About Esmée
Esmée, contemporary French cuisine in Kongens Nytorv
Esmée is a Copenhagen restaurant offering a modern, light interpretation of French cuisine with Mediterranean inspiration. The project is led by Andreas Bagh, according to the establishment's own description. The venue presents itself as a space with a warm, lively atmosphere, with a touch of refinement and discretion, and its service combines professionalism and warmth.
A space inspired by an orangery
The restaurant's interior evokes a modern orangery, with abundant greenery, heavy curtains and marble surfaces. The main dining room keeps the pulse of the dining room and has views over Kongens Nytorv. The restaurant warns that its atmosphere can be noisy and that it is not the most suitable place for those seeking a quiet, private space on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays.
Menus for groups and family-style service
For groups of eight or more diners, Esmée cooks for the table rather than for each individual. You can choose from three group menus: Esmée's classic offering, a lighter seafood menu or the most indulgent option. Everything is served family style, so dishes circulate and nobody eats alone. The restaurant asks that allergies be communicated in advance so the menu can be planned.
Regular reservations operate with an à la carte menu. The set menu is only available for groups of eight or more; for groups of seven or fewer, the offering is exclusively à la carte.
Private spaces and events
Esmée allows different spaces to be reserved: the back room can be closed off, the Orangerie behind the restaurant can be taken over, or the semi-private front area can be used, which keeps the closeness of the dining room and the views over Kongens Nytorv. For larger occasions, the entire restaurant can be reserved, including the bar. Menus and wines are adapted to the type of event you wish to organise.
Reservations, bar and access policy
The restaurant recommends booking, as it is often fully booked, although it usually keeps some seats at the bar for those who arrive without a reservation. Two small groups cannot be booked to sit together; in that case, they ask you to contact them directly by email or phone to find a solution. The bar area operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and does not accept reservations; only drinks and appetisers are served there, not meals.
After booking, you receive an immediate confirmation email and, two days before your visit, a confirmation link that the restaurant asks you to complete. Each reservation includes a 30% discount on selected nearby car parks, with a code sent in the confirmation email.
Rules on pets, children and other practices
Dogs are welcome only in the Orangerie or on Kongens Nytorv and always under the restaurant's conditions: they must be kept on a leash, remain on the floor, must not be fed inside the venue and staff are not authorised to touch or handle them. If a dog barks or disturbs other guests, you may be asked to remove it. A water bowl is provided for pets.
Children are welcome, but you are asked to give advance notice if you are coming with a baby, even if the baby is being held, so that the most suitable table can be assigned. The restaurant has highchairs, a changing facility and colouring books, but does not have a children's menu or space for prams inside. If devices such as iPads or iPhones are used, headphones are mandatory. If a child becomes unsettled or disturbs other guests, you may be asked to resolve it outside the dining room.
Smoking is not permitted inside or in the outdoor dining areas; smoking is only allowed in the designated area outside the bar. You may bring your own wine with a corkage fee of 350 DKK per 75 cl bottle, 700 DKK for magnums and a proportional amount for other formats. External desserts and table decorations such as balloons, flowers or glitter are not allowed.
Food offering and service hours

From Sunday to Thursday, lunch is served from 12:00 to 14:30, dinner from 17:30 to 21:30 and appetisers and desserts from 12:00 to 22:00. On Fridays and Saturdays, lunch keeps the same hours of 12:00 to 14:30, dinner extends from 17:30 to 22:00 and the selection of appetisers and desserts is available from 12:00 to 23:00.
