About Restaurant Bartholomeus

Restaurant Bartholomeus: Fine Dining in Knokke-Heist

Restaurant Bartholomeus is on the Zeedijk in Knokke-Heist, Belgium. Its offering centers on a fixed six-course menu created by chefs Bart Desmidt and Philip Vandamme, with Sandra Vandegeuchte as a third member of the leadership team. The restaurant sums up its philosophy with the Dutch phrase “Simpel maar Goed”—simple but good—which it applies to both the food and the drinks list.

A Six-Course Menu with No Substitutions

The dining experience is a six-course menu in which the chefs aim to let honest, pure ingredients take the lead. The menu is presented as a complete set, so changes and substitutions are not accepted. Management asks guests with potentially dangerous allergies to shellfish, mollusks, or nuts to notify the restaurant in advance.

A Short, Carefully Chosen Drinks List

The same idea of simplicity carries through to a limited but carefully selected drinks list. It includes a wine selection and an option for wines by the glass chosen to accompany the meal. A per-person charge applies for Bru water, still or sparkling.

Hours and Service Times

The restaurant is closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Wednesday through Saturday, lunch guests arrive between noon and 12:15 p.m., and dinner guests between 7 and 7:15 p.m.

Reservations can be made through the website, which also offers gift certificates. Information is available in Dutch and French.
