About Consular Section, Embassy of Japan in Austria
The Vienna Consular Section handles Japanese passports, registrations, certificates and Japanese visas for residents in Austria. Its official menu also includes overseas residence registration, overseas voting, safety information and My Number services.
Appointments are requested by email with two possible dates, the purpose and a phone number; urgent cases are directed to call. Advance contact lets applicants ask which documents apply to their case. The directory reviewed does not publish the name of a consular-counter chief; Kiminori Iwama is listed as Ambassador, a separate role.
The public consular entrance is at Schottenring 8, not the postal address at Heßgasse 6. Schottentor is about a two-minute walk away. There is no visitor parking.
The Embassy runs outreach sessions elsewhere in Austria when officially announced. Each notice defines the date, eligible procedures and document collections, so read it before booking transport or accommodation.
