The Mt. Kinka Ropeway links Gifu Park with the mountain above the Nagara River, carrying visitors to the summit in about four minutes. On a clear ride, the wooded slope opens toward the river plain and the city; at the top, visitors can reach the mountain’s viewing areas and facilities. The cable car is therefore still a meaningful way to experienc
The official fare page lists a round trip at ¥1,300 for adults and ¥650 for children, with one-way tickets also available. The municipal tourism page describes the ascent as roughly four minutes and says the service schedule can vary; maintenance and weather can affect operations. This is not a ticket into Gifu Castle: the keep and castle museum are closed during the renovation period. Confirm the ropeway’s own notice for the day, and avoid assuming that the observation facilities have the same

At the foot of Mount Kinka, Gifu Park forms the natural starting point for a day around the Nagara River and the city’s castle history. The municipal park combines paths, garden spaces and historic markers, with the ropeway station at its edge. This lets visitors make a satisfying ground-level visit even when the mountain keep is not accessible: th
From JR Gifu or Meitetsu Gifu stations, the city advises taking a Gifu bus for about fifteen minutes to the Gifu Park/Gifu Castle stop; the ropeway entrance is a short walk away. The park itself is a public outdoor space, while the history museum, insect museum and ropeway have their own hours and ticket rules. A simple plan is to walk the lower garden and monument area, then decide whether the ropeway and summit facilities fit the day’s weather and opening schedule.
