About Roof Taco White Plains
Tacos with a rooftop above Mamaroneck Avenue
Roof Taco occupies the multi-level restaurant at 359 Mamaroneck Avenue, previously listed as Salsa Picante. The current kitchen pairs a rooftop setting with a broad Mexican menu, a full bar and party service. For a diner choosing tacos, the important distinction is between the lunch or dinner plate and the simpler takeout selection.
The gobernador combines sautéed shrimp, poblano, onion, tomato, chipotle sauce and melted cheese. Birria uses chili-braised beef brisket with dipping broth; quesabirrias add cheese inside crisped corn tortillas. The pescado taco uses beer-battered cod, corn pico and chipotle mayonnaise. A cold nopales filling mixes cactus with onion, tomato, jalapeño and queso fresco.
Traditional tacos cover pastor, carnitas, chicken, steak, shrimp and vegetables, finished with onion, cilantro, lime and radish. Corn tortillas are standard in the taco corner. Dinner and lunch plates pair two tacos with rice and beans; the takeout menu separately offers a four-taco traditional order. Choosing the service menu first prevents confusing those different portions.
Guacamole is prepared at the table. Quesito fundido brings poblano, chorizo and beans into melted cheese, while enchiladas allow mole, red salsa or green tomatillo. For larger groups, trays cover eight to ten or fifteen to twenty diners, with rice and beans ordered as separate trays.
