About Mariachi Loco Restaurant
A neighborhood restaurant with room for a longer meal
Guillermo Arellano opened Mariachi Loco in 2000. In December 2024, the family celebrated an expansion with a larger dining room and bar, giving the Central Avenue restaurant more space for the meals it had been serving for years. Tacos remain part of that broader Mexican kitchen, alongside mole, alambres, seafood and sandwiches.
The taco menu distinguishes soft tortillas finished with onion, cilantro, lime and radish from hard shells topped with lettuce, cheese, tomato and cream. Orders of three include rice and beans. Quesabirria uses short rib and Chihuahua cheese, accompanied by onion, cilantro, radish, cucumber and consommé. It provides a richer, cheese-filled alternative to the ordinary taco plate.
Taco placero is another substantial choice. Rice, potato, onion and jalapeño accompany chicken or steak milanesa, longaniza or a stuffed chile; a boiled egg can be added. The taco al carbón combines grilled steak with sautéed onion, cilantro, scallion and jalapeño. Norteños add cactus and guacamole to the steak preparation.
The huarache ML layers chorizo, steak and chicken with beans, lettuce, pico, guacamole, cream and cheese. A Mexican quesadilla takes Oaxaca cheese, mushrooms and zucchini. Carnitas Poblanas introduces orange and garlic to the pork, while chicken mole moves the meal toward a sesame-finished sauce. These dishes make the restaurant useful when a table wants more than tacos.
