About Pima Community College — 29th Street Coalition Center

Pima Community College’s 29th Street Coalition Center is at 4355 East Calle Aurora, southeast of downtown Tucson. It is one of the three locations listed for Adult Basic Education for College & Career (ABECC), along with Desert Vista and Downtown. Adults who want to strengthen reading, writing, math or English before entering credit classes can begin with skills tied to everyday and college needs; these classes are free.

ABECC offers free English and core-skills instruction, high-school equivalency preparation and testing, integrated education and training, and citizenship classes. Placement, dates and locations follow the current schedule, so call the ABECC office at 520-206-7330 before travelling. Pima also lists public-safety instruction at this site: the Fire Science Academy Track is a full-time, one-year in-person certificate; the Fire Science AAS is published as two years full-time in a hybrid format; and the Paramedic AAS as two years full-time, hybrid. These career credentials have separate admission and course requirements.

The site offers two distinct ways to begin: free noncredit adult education and selective technical or degree programs in emergency services. Anyone considering EMT, paramedic or fire-service study should verify which courses meet at 29th Street in the chosen term and what prerequisites, physical standards or cohort steps apply. The college location page links a map; Pima’s transportation page says parking is free and Sun Tran serves its campuses. Check the class schedule and building before leaving home.

In brief

A practical site for free English classes, high-school equivalency preparation and emergency-services training.
