About Arizona State University Financial Aid — Arizona Promise

ASU handles the individual review of Arizona Promise for its students. The financial-aid office does not set statewide rules: ABOR defines the framework, while ASU explains how it works on its campuses. This matters when comparing a Tempe offer with one from Northern Arizona University or the University of Arizona, whose portals, dates and conditions may differ.

ASU’s current information is aimed mainly at admitted first-year students who meet Arizona-residency, in-state high-school graduation, minimum GPA and Pell-eligibility criteria. They must also file FAFSA and complete requested verification. The award is determined after eligible grants and scholarships are applied, so the final amount depends on how much qualifying tuition and mandatory fees remain.

Enrollment load matters: ASU lists at least 12 in-person credits per semester for this route and excludes ASU Online. For fall 2027 entry, the campus asks students to complete admission, official transcripts and FAFSA by April 1, 2027. Ask financial aid whether your format, campus, admission date and documents qualify before treating an estimate as approved aid.

In a public thread from July 2026, students asked about Promise aid that had not appeared and notices related to Pell or credit status. That is a sample of questions, not proof of a general delay or individual eligibility. If the Promise line is missing, ask whether FAFSA arrived, Pell was verified, admission is complete and which documents remain outstanding. Request an answer tied to your own file.

ASU lists its financial-aid office at the Student Services Building, 1151 South Forest Avenue in Tempe, and publishes 855-278-5080. Keep portal notices and request separate estimates for tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meals, books and transport. Arizona Promise does not automatically cover housing or materials; the campus confirms the amount and posting date.
