Tacombi, Mexican taquerías with roots in Yucatán

Tacombi is a chain of Mexican taquerías that presents itself as a gateway to the authentic flavors of Mexico. Its origin dates back to the beaches of Yucatán in 2006, when its founders bought a 1963 combi van in Mexico City and drove it slowly through the Yucatán Peninsula until they parked it in Playa del Carmen. The vehicle was dismantled: the engine was scrapped, the transmission was sold, the seats were replaced with cooking equipment and the roof was removed to turn it into a taco stand. From that combination of taco and combi comes the company's name.

From a stand in Playa del Carmen to a network of taquerías in the United States

The company's first taquería opened in 2010 in a garage in downtown New York. Since then, Tacombi has been opening neighborhood taquerías in New York, Washington DC and Miami.
