About Get Skilled, Get a Job, Get Ahead (G3)
G3 lets Virginia residents prepare for high-demand jobs at community colleges with aid applied to education costs.
Core rules require Virginia residency and in-state tuition eligibility, total household income at or below 400% of the federal poverty level, and enrollment in an approved program. Credit programs generally require FAFSA or the applicable aid form and at least six credits; noncredit short courses may use income or benefit documentation. Not every program in a field qualifies: check the exact campus listing.
Find an active G3 program and apply to one of the 23 VCCS colleges. File FAFSA for credit programs, or income/benefit documentation for certain short credentials; the office will identify additional forms. Get advising before enrolling and confirm both program and campus are listed for the current year because offerings are reviewed against regional workforce needs.
Who it serves and what it can cover: Household income up to 400% of poverty, a designated program, and last-dollar calculation after other aid; six credits or eligible noncredit pathway.
