About Women’s Executive Council Orlando Scholarship

Orlando’s Women’s Executive Council (WEC) is a regional civic organization that awards scholarships to women entering or continuing higher education in Central Florida. The council says it has made awards since 1987; for 2026 it listed scholarships of $1,972 each, honoring the year the council was founded. This is not an open award for every Florida resident: applicants must attend an institution named in the annual criteria.

The 2026 list included Bethune-Cookman, UCF, Valencia College, and Seminole State, along with other area colleges, business schools, and graduate programs. High-school applicants had to be seniors registered to attend an eligible institution in summer or fall 2026. Current students had to enroll full-time: at least 12 credits for undergraduate programs, 9 for graduate or law programs, or 6 for doctoral study. A minimum 3.0 GPA was required.

The application had to be sent in one email with the form, an official or unofficial transcript, a résumé covering education, work, service, and honors, an essay, and two recommendation letters. The double-spaced essay had to run 500–750 words and explain financial need, obstacles, educational and career goals. Recommenders needed to know the student’s academic or work habits, and letters had to be dated after January 1, 2026. Incomplete submissions were not considered.

The 2026 deadline was June 30 at 5 p.m. EST and has passed. The page says 2027 application information is coming soon but has not posted the next dates or rules. Decisions were expected around August 1, with only winners notified. If WEC later requests a biography or photograph, that is a post-award step, not part of the initial file. Check the institution list and credit-load rules again before applying for 2027.

Applications and questions go to scholarships@wecorlando.com. The council lists P.O. Box 2895, Orlando, Florida 32802-2895, but no phone number on its scholarship page. For students at Valencia or Seminole State, WEC may be a separate opportunity from college foundation scholarships: apply to each program individually and ask the college how to report and coordinate the awards.
