In Central Florida, a local scholarship may come from the college where you study or a regional organization supporting women in higher education. The Foundation for Seminole State College has hundreds of individually defined funds and its Spring 2027 application is open. Orlando’s Women’s Executive Council (WEC) lists an annual award for women attending participating area institutions, but its 2026 cycle has closed and 2027 information is not yet posted.
Seminole State’s foundation lists more than 300 scholarships for current and prospective students planning to pursue a degree or certificate. The Spring 2027 application is due November 15 at 11:59 p.m. Current students sign in with college credentials; applicants who have applied for admission but do not yet have a college email use the prospective-student link and a personal email. New-student awards depend on enrollment for that term and verification of the application.
The general application asks for a 500-word essay about the student’s program, goals, financial barriers, and how a scholarship would help. Applicants then open matching opportunities and provide extra materials, which may include service details or recommendations. A 2026–27 FAFSA must be on file with the financial-aid office even if the student expects no federal award. Dual-enrollment and transient students and non-degree programs are excluded; individual funds may add GPA, residency, or major requirements.
WEC Orlando is a separate option for women enrolled full-time at a participating institution. Its 2026 list included Seminole State, Valencia, UCF, and other Central Florida schools. It required a 3.0 GPA, transcript, résumé, 500–750-word essay, and two recent recommendations. The listed awards were $1,972, but that cycle closed June 30, 2026. The site says 2027 information is coming soon without confirmed new dates or rules.
A Seminole State student may want to review both programs separately if she meets WEC’s rules and completes its own file. The reviewed pages do not guarantee the awards can be stacked without adjustment; report every scholarship to the college and ask how it coordinates with other need-based funds. Foundation for Seminole State and WEC Orlando are distinct profiles, and neither replaces FAFSA or other state aid.
The Seminole State foundation answers at foundationscholars@seminolestate.edu and 407-708-4567, with an office in Heathrow; WEC accepts applications at scholarships@wecorlando.com and lists an Orlando mailing address. Start with your transcript, FAFSA information, references, and essay, but do not treat WEC’s 2026 dates as current; check its page when the next cycle is announced.
