A Kansas City taco shop takes a different route

Tiki Taco opened its Olathe restaurant in May 2025 at Olathe Pointe, near 119th Street and Black Bob Road. The Kansas City brand began on West 39th Street in 2017 and later expanded under the Wade family. Its menu mixes a conventional street taco with California influences and Asian-style sauces, making it a useful choice for a group whose taco preferences run in several directions.

The street taco uses corn with onion, cilantro and lime. A soft taco switches to flour with lettuce, cheese and tomato; a crunchy taco puts similar toppings into a crisp corn shell. Korean beef adds cucumber and Korean barbecue sauce. Thai fried chicken uses a flour tortilla with purple-cabbage and jalapeño-sour-cream slaw and Thai chili sauce. The grilled shrimp taco is simpler, with guacamole and pico on double corn tortillas; tempura seafood goes toward cabbage, Baja sauce and queso fresco.

The avocado taco is also tempura-fried, with cabbage, Baja sauce, pico and queso fresco. The mushroom taco uses grilled mushrooms with salsa, onion, cilantro and lime. These preparations have different garnishes, so a vegetarian choice should be selected by its full ingredients. KC burritos offer a choice between curly fries and rice; a twelve-taco pack comes in street, soft or crunchy style.
