About Wrangler Promise — beca de matrícula de Odessa College para la clase 2027
Wrangler Promise is an Odessa College scholarship for eligible graduates in the college’s service area in the Permian Basin. For the class of 2027, the college describes it as last-dollar aid: other scholarships and aid apply first, and Promise may cover the remaining eligible tuition and fees. The limit is an associate degree or 60 attempted credits, whichever comes first. It is not cash that students can redirect to housing, meals, or transportation.
The public 2027 overview lists no household-income threshold or high-school GPA requirement for the main route. It does require residence in the service area and graduation as part of the class of 2027; GED and homeschool students have a specific age rule, 17–19 after 2027. Students must start full time at Odessa College in the fall immediately after graduation. Taking a gap year or beginning elsewhere and transferring in spring can end Wrangler Promise eligibility, although Odessa Foundation scholarships may still be available.
The dates form a checklist rather than one deadline. The page lists a May 17, 2027 pledge deadline; July 7 for ApplyTexas, FAFSA or TASFA, and registration; August 16 to accept the award; and August 24 to complete orientation. The acceptance date is marked subject to change. The pledge page says the form opens in September 2026. Save confirmation screens and keep checking the portal because an incomplete admission or FAFSA file may prevent review.
Continuing eligibility requires at least 12 credits in fall and spring, a 2.0 cumulative GPA, satisfactory academic progress, and minimum co-curricular participation, which may include tutoring and coach meetings. The page allows students who briefly drop below full-time to restore that load the following semester, but two below-full-time periods end eligibility. Prior dual-credit coursework does not by itself disqualify a student; it counts against the 60-hour cap. An associate degree already earned does disqualify the student.
The Promise covers eligible tuition and fees remaining after other aid; if Pell or other awards already cover those charges, Promise may pay nothing additional. The FAQ says the award has no cash value and unused balances are not refunded. Students who live outside the district may also owe the difference between their residency rate and the in-district rate used as the programme’s basis. Request an account estimate before registering. Do not confuse this award with general Odessa College Foundation scholarships. The foundation lists other AwardSpring opportunities with separate rules for GPA, credit load, major, residence, need, or experience; summer awards are not routinely offered and depend on leftover funds. Students who lose Promise eligibility may explore those alternatives, but they are not a guaranteed extension. The [Odessa College Foundation Scholarships profile](data-profile="odessa-foundation-scholarships") explains how to reach the portal and verify criteria with Financial Aid.
