About Mexican Rooster Newark
A North Ward table beyond the four-taco order
Mexican Rooster serves Mount Prospect Avenue with a menu that stretches from eggs and chilaquiles to tacos, grilled meats and seafood. Its four-taco section supplies a focused first meal, while the broader kitchen allows a family to order different formats without changing restaurants.
Pastor, carnitas, tinga, lengua, cecina, chorizo, chicken and steak cover a wide range. Birria is a highlighted item in the current merchant menu. Tinga offers shredded, spiced chicken; cecina gives a cured-beef alternative to grilled steak; lengua changes the cut rather than simply the sauce. Quesabirria is listed separately among the antojitos.
Sopes, huaraches, chalupas, picaditas and tostadas use the same range of chosen meats. Enchiladas can take mole or red or green salsa, with shrimp enchiladas also prominent on the delivery list. The grilled Asado Yecapixtla brings cecina, spicy pork and chorizo together with onions and cactus. New York steak with mushrooms and cactus is another distinct preparation.
The seafood section includes fried whole mojarra, shrimp in garlic or spicy sauce, mixed ceviche and soups. Customer accounts draw attention to mole and seafood broth, suggesting a useful second visit beyond the taco list. These are observations about service and menu choices, not a promise that every diner will prefer the same dish.
