About Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) scholarship combines financial assistance with mentoring and leadership development. The open cycle is for students graduating from high school in spring 2027 who plan to begin full-time college in the fall. It is not an athletic scholarship: JRF says it looks for academic achievement, leadership, civic engagement, and financial need.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend an accredited four-year college in the United States or one affiliated with a U.S.-based institution. A student who graduated the prior year but has not yet taken college coursework may also apply. Applicants may not have earned more than 25% of the credits required for a degree. Need is assessed case by case; the foundation does not publish one universal income cutoff.
The application asks for a high-school transcript, activities and distinctions, college and career plans, essays, one recommendation from someone who knows the student and their goals, and ACT or SAT scores from a single test date; superscores are not accepted. It also requires the CSS Profile for the primary household and, when applicable, a secondary or noncustodial household. Send the College Board report to Jackie Robinson Foundation using code 4248; without that recipient selection, the file is incomplete.
For the 2027 cycle, the application, recommendation, and CSS Profile are due online by January 14, 2027, at 5 p.m. EST. JRF recommends submitting early because it receives thousands of applications and does not grant extensions. The FAQ says it typically awards about 60 scholarships each year and disburses selected awards over four years; confirm the individual amount in the recipient notice.
Selected Scholars receive leadership and college guidance in addition to financial support under the award terms. JRF says applicants will hear by the end of June. Its office is at 75 Varick Street, Second Floor, New York, NY 10013; phone 212-290-8600 and email connect@jackierobinson.org. Application writing must reflect the student’s own voice and experience: the foundation prohibits submitting AI-generated essays.
