Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA)
Need-based annual aid with caps that vary by institution type and limited funds; FAFSA and the priority date remain decisive for renewal.
About Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA)
TSAA is a state grant intended to ease tuition and fee costs for resident students with significant financial need.
The program guide lists Tennessee residency, at least half-time enrollment, a participating institution, and a Student Aid Index of 5,000 or below for selection. FAFSA is required each year; the eligible college should be listed as the first choice for the system to process the award. Renewals receive priority and must file FAFSA by the published annual date, historically April 1.
Complete FAFSA early and list the eligible institution you actually plan to attend first. Monitor the TSAC portal and campus email because verification may be required before certification. For 2026–27, confirm whether the published priority date still permits review; for future cycles, do not reuse April 1 without checking the current calendar.
