About Crêpes of Brittany

Crêpes of Brittany, a crêperie with Breton tradition in Texas and California

Crêpes of Brittany is a restaurant chain specializing in authentic French cuisine, rooted in the culinary traditions of Northern France, specifically the regions of Brittany and Normandy, where crêpes and galettes are part of the local way of life. The company operates two establishments in the United States: one in Montgomery (Texas) and another in Monterey (California).

From the beginning, the project has focused on preserving time-honored recipes, traditional techniques, and high-quality ingredients to deliver a truly authentic French experience. Each location follows the same approach: thoughtfully crafted crêpes, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere the company describes as both refined and welcoming.

Menu offerings

The menu is built around several sections:

  • Authentic French crêpes, both savory and sweet.
  • Classic galettes, in their savory version.
  • Dessert crêpes.
  • Pastries.
  • Sandwiches.
  • Coffee bar.

Service covers breakfast, lunch, and dessert, so crêpes can be enjoyed at different times of the day. The Texas location also offers online ordering.

Origins and history

The original owners, Daniel Peron and Thierry Crocquet, met in 2008 at Daniel's restaurant, Taste of Brittany, in Stockton (California). Thierry was then working as a tile contractor on the Monterey Peninsula. They met again a year later, after the passing of Thierry's mother, and decided to launch an authentic crêperie in Monterey. Both are originally from Brittany and Normandy.

The first Crêpes of Brittany opened in 2010 at Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey. It started as a small corner inside a coffee shop, with two tables inside and three outside, with the goal of reproducing the authenticity of the products from their home region, handcrafting products with ingredients that were difficult to find in the United States. Six years later, the business had its own establishment, located a block from Fisherman's Wharf and the Portola Plaza Hotel.

The Montgomery (Texas) location

The Texas location is managed by Stacie and Dan, a couple who met in high school and who, after years in Monterey (California), discovered the original Crêpes of Brittany. What began as a visit turned into a friendship with the owners, who passed on their traditional recipes and crêpe-making techniques from Brittany. With their guidance, they learned to prepare both savory galettes and sweet dessert crêpes.

Upon returning to their hometown, Montgomery, they decided to bring that French offering to Texas. As managers of the Texas location, they present a menu that combines French tradition with Texas hospitality, designed for leisurely breakfasts, lunches, and desserts.
