Oscar Perez’s own restaurant on Vine Street

Oscar Perez founded El Tapatio in 2012 after years managing restaurants in Texas and Central Florida. The Kissimmee kitchen prepares its food from scratch and marinates meats overnight. Its location is 1804 West Vine Street; similarly named chains elsewhere are separate businesses.

The taco mexicano is a soft-tortilla preparation with onion and cilantro. Asada, pastor, carnitas, lengua, chorizo and chicken provide the main choices. Three tacos can become a combination with Mexican rice and refried beans. A gordita uses a thick homemade corn tortilla stuffed with beans, avocado and queso fresco. The huarache adds green salsa, cactus, lettuce, tomato, avocado and cream over a larger corn base.

For a shared meal, the Molcajete Tarasco brings chicken, shrimp, steak and chorizo with onions, peppers, cactus and melted cheese in hot volcanic stone. Rice, beans and accompaniments come alongside. Queso fundido can take chorizo or mushrooms. A vegetable quesadilla or sizzling vegetable fajitas gives another part of the table a substantial choice.

The lunch menu runs weekdays 11 a.m.–3 p.m., with smaller combinations and fajitas. Recent September 2026 accounts praise attentive service and prompt food; the room’s live music and colorful decor make it more of a sit-down occasion than a roadside taco counter.
