About Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio
The taco starts with meat and a fresh tortilla
Victor Contreras opened the Armourdale market in 2005, building a family operation that combines a butcher counter, tortilla production, groceries and a taqueria. The tortillas are a practical connection between the shop and the restaurant: corn tortillas carry the tacos, while both corn and flour tortillas are available for cooking at home.
The taco arrives simply, with its chosen meat, leaving the diner to finish it at the self-service bar. Onion, cilantro, lime, pico de gallo and several salsas allow a different dressing on each taco. Asada, pastor, barbacoa and deshebrada make a useful comparison of grilled, marinated and shredded preparations. The ability to dress the taco individually is repeatedly appreciated in public customer feedback.
Burritos, tortas and tamales broaden the prepared-food order. A market visit can also include fresh tortillas, chips, meat and pantry ingredients. It is a different rhythm from a full-service restaurant: order at the counter, choose the finishing sauces, then take a table or carry the meal away.
Use 830 Kansas Avenue for the taqueria
The restaurant and tortilla operation is at 830 Kansas Avenue; 913-281-6433. Published market hours are daily 6 a.m.–10 p.m.; the opening of a grocery does not guarantee every cooked filling is ready at that first hour. Takeaway is established, but a current direct delivery service or delivery-only phone was not verified.
The family also opened Super San Antonio at 800 Kansas Avenue in 2024. That nearby grocery was reported without a taco counter, butcher shop or tortilla factory, so it should not replace 830 as the destination for this meal. The similarly named Independence Avenue market across the state line has a family connection but separate ownership; this profile does not present it as another interchangeable Kansas branch.
