About Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an honor society for students at two-year colleges and also a gateway to several funding routes. Its offerings include competitive PTK awards, scholarships from foundations and companies, partner-university awards and a search tool called PTK Connect. For someone completing an associate degree and planning to transfer, its practical value is bringing scattered opportunities together; membership, however, does not make every scholarship automatic.

The application page keeps PTK’s general scholarship application open year-round but schedules reviews by deadline. For December 1, 2026, it lists awards including the Hites Transfer, Christopher Calhoun Transfer and New Century Transfer & Workforce Pathway scholarships, among others. A second deadline listed for May 17, 2027 applies to a different group of programs. Competitive PTK scholarships generally require applicants to be enrolled in an associate-degree or certificate program at a two-year college when they apply. Separately, PTK Connect lets students search more than 3,000 transfer scholarships by college, major, eligibility or award size, including some available only to members.

A practical approach is to open each award’s requirements, check whether it requires PTK membership, transcripts, an essay or a nomination, and add its deadline to a calendar; updating the application each semester matters for continued consideration. For scholarships funded directly by a university, PTK does not manage the award: students need to contact the campus and use its application portal. The national office is at 1625 Eastover Drive, Jackson, Mississippi 39211. Support is available at 601-984-3504 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and scholarship questions go to scholarships@ptk.org. Opportunities can differ sharply by college and transfer stage, so verify each match with the financial-aid office at the receiving campus.
