About La Regia Taqueria
A small taco can open a much larger menu
La Regia is a useful address for someone who wants more than the usual choice between steak and chicken. At 436 Highway 1 West, its street tacos use two corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. The filling list ranges from flat-top asada and marinated pork to beef cheek, tongue, pork stomach and crisp-fried tripe. Ordering several different cuts makes more sense here than assuming that every beef taco will have the texture of steak.
There is an important detail in the pastor description: this menu specifies marinated, diced pork cooked on the flat top. It does not promise meat shaved from a rotating spit. The birria selection, meanwhile, distinguishes beef from goat. A quesabirria order contains three handmade corn quesadillas and broth, offering a cheese-and-consommé route through those same stews.
For a mixed table
Fried potato tacos come with lettuce, sour cream, cotija and guacamole; the separate veggie taco combines beans, vegetables and avocado. Those are two different meatless meals, rather than a single substitute filling. Fish tacos use tilapia, while grilled shrimp tacos pair shrimp with poblano and onion on flour tortillas. A California burrito adds fries inside the wrap. This breadth is the reason to choose La Regia for a group whose orders will not look alike.
Restaurant, market and takeaway
The adjoining grocery business sells meat, spices, sauces and other Mexican cooking supplies. Its telephone is separate: the restaurant is 319-341-8226, while grocery enquiries go to 319-358-2333. The restaurant's Toast menu offers pickup; a separate DoorDash listing offers delivery. Neither turns the grocery number into a delivery line. Catering portions of meat, tortillas and accompaniments are also listed for larger orders.
