Hispanic Scholarship Fund — HSF Scholar Program

HSF Scholar status provides mentoring, leadership development, career guidance, and access to events. It does not guarantee cash: only some Scholars may receive a $500–$5,000 award, based on need, available funds, and Fund A Scholar participation. The 2026 cycle required Hispanic heritage, U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or DACA; a 3.0 high-school GPA or 2.5 college/graduate GPA; the 2026–27 FAFSA; and full-time enrollment at a U.S. public or nonprofit four-year colleg

About Hispanic Scholarship Fund — HSF Scholar Program

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), a national organization founded in 1975, combines scholarships with support for students of Hispanic heritage and their families. HSF Scholar status provides access to mentoring, leadership development, academic resources, career guidance, and events. The distinction matters: being selected as a Scholar does not guarantee cash. HSF selects up to 10,000 Scholars each year, and only some receive a monetary award depending on funds and need.

For the 2026 application, HSF required U.S. citizenship, permanent legal residence, or DACA; a minimum 3.0 GPA for high-school students and 2.5 for college and graduate students; and planned full-time enrollment during 2026–27 at a U.S. public or nonprofit four-year college or graduate school. The program is open to applicants of any race who identify as having Hispanic heritage. Applicants also had to complete the FAFSA for the same academic year.

The 2026 calendar opened January 5 and closed February 15. The finalist phase was scheduled for March, selection for June, and document verification from June through November. HSF marks that cycle closed and has not yet announced 2027 dates. Applicants start by creating a profile in HSF’s portal; prepare academic records and the FAFSA, then follow the Help Center for document and notification requirements.

Published awards range from $500 to $5,000 and are based on merit and relative need, but HSF says payment depends on available funds and participation in Fund A Scholar. That program lets donors contribute to an individual Scholar’s fund, yet it still does not guarantee that the student’s full unmet need will be funded. Do not build a budget around a specific amount until HSF sends a formal award notice and disbursement schedule.

HSF provides services beyond a possible payment, including career support, mentoring, and conference access. For eligibility or an individual application question, use the contact form at hsf.net; a current phone number could not be confirmed on HSF’s institutional contact page. A state charity registry lists the organization in El Segundo, California, but that administrative listing is not a substitute for the online application channel.

Who it serves and what it can cover: HSF Scholar status provides mentoring, leadership development, career guidance, and access to events. It does not guarantee cash: only some Scholars may receive a $500–$5,000 award, based on need, available funds, and Fund A Scholar participation. The 2026 cycle required Hispanic heritage, U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or DACA; a 3.0 high-school GPA or 2.5 college/graduate GPA; the 2026–27 FAFSA; and full-time enrollment at a U.S. public or nonprofit four-year college or graduate school.

How to apply or get help: The 2026 application closed February 15, 2026; HSF has not yet posted the 2027 opening date. Use the official HSF contact form for questions. For case-specific questions, contact the program or financial-aid office named on its official page.
