About El Michoacano Taqueria
Michoacán roots, room for different appetites
El Michoacano opened in fall 2016 and is run by the Pérez family, whose cooking traditions come from Michoacán. Their original idea joined a Mexican taco shop with an ice-cream parlor. That combination still explains the unusually broad menu on Merle Hay Road: a meal can begin with a savory taco and end with a frozen dessert without changing addresses. The dining-room photograph supplied by the restaurant shows booth seating and a counter; this is a counter-service operation, not a reservation-led tasting room.
Two menus worth reading together
The regular tacos use handmade corn tortillas with onion and cilantro, with radish and guacamole alongside. Asada, carnitas and pastor are accessible starting points; cabeza, lengua and tripa offer different cuts rather than simply another sauce on the same filling. The dedicated vegan menu goes further than removing meat: it lists soy-based asada and pastor, the latter cooked with pineapple and onion, plus a cactus option with tomato. A mixed group can choose different fillings while keeping the taco as the common meal.
The restaurant also lists vegan quesabirria, sopes, flautas and tortas in separate sections. A plant-based label is not an allergy guarantee; anyone avoiding soy or another ingredient should discuss that specific need with the restaurant. We describe these as distinctive offerings, not verified top sellers.
At the counter or delivered
The published hours are Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–8 p.m. The official website separates Clover pickup ordering from Uber Eats delivery. That distinction matters when choosing where food will go: an order for collection does not automatically book a driver. The restaurant contact is 515-277-1826; there is no separately published telephone dispatch service in the material reviewed.
