About Iowa Tuition Grant
The Iowa Tuition Grant helps Iowa residents enrolled at participating private nonprofit colleges and universities in the state. It supports undergraduate associate or bachelor’s study; it is not a general program for every private school or for graduate study.

The 2027–28 maximum has not yet been set. As a clearly separate historical reference, the 2026–27 maximum at participating private nonprofit schools was $7,500; the actual award may be lower depending on available funds and projected recipients. Students may receive up to four years of full-time undergraduate grants; the institution credits the grant to tuition. For 2027–28, FAFSA opened October 1, 2026, and the published deadline is July 1, 2027. File FAFSA, confirm your college is on the eligible list, and review your SAI in the FAFSA Submission Summary. Ask Iowa College Aid or the campus how course load, residency, and other aid affect the final calculation.
