About Franklin County Office on Aging — Senior Options
Senior Options is the county entry point for practical help that can support living at home. It is funded by the Franklin County Senior Services Levy and administered by the Office on Aging, with contracted providers delivering homemaking, personal care, home-delivered meals, and transportation.
Basic eligibility requires age 60 or older and residence in Franklin County. For subsidized services, the program verifies an unmet need and financial information; the final fee may use a sliding scale based on income and assets. An in-home assessment and case management help determine whether meals, personal help, transportation, an emergency system, adult day care, supplies, or minor repairs fit the person’s needs.
Begin enrollment online or call (614) 525-6200. Senior Options answers calls Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the county office is at 280 East Broad Street, Room 300, in Columbus. The county also posts forms and brochures in several languages, including Spanish.
Local coordination matters because COAAA and the Office on Aging share responsibilities: the regional agency may conduct home visits, enroll clients, and coordinate cases, while the county funds the Senior Options package. Provider rates can differ and some services depend on openings; ask for a written list of what was authorized, the monthly contribution, and how to request a reassessment if health changes.
If the need is food rather than homemaking, ask whether delivery reaches the address and what meal plans are available. If the issue is caregiver strain, request details about respite or supplemental support. The program aims to meet assessed needs; it is not unlimited care or a substitute for medical coverage.
