LifeCare Alliance Home Delivered Meals and Senior Dining

LifeCare Alliance is a Columbus nonprofit delivering meals to older adults and people with medical challenges or disabilities across several Central Ohio counties. It also operates dining centers for adults age 60 and older, with a suggested contribution and transportation at some sites.

About LifeCare Alliance Home Delivered Meals and Senior Dining

LifeCare Alliance combines home delivery with centers where older adults can sit down for lunch. Meals on Wheels serves older adults and people with medical challenges or disabilities who cannot safely prepare or access food. The organization contracts with Franklin County Senior Options and other programs; someone without a case manager can also ask about a self-pay option.

For people without a case-managed benefit, LifeCare Alliance says a physical or cognitive limitation must make meal preparation unsafe, and the person must live in Franklin, Champaign, Logan, Madison, or Marion County. Publicly funded clients pay nothing for meals when approved; self-pay customers are billed according to their selected menu plan. Call (614) 278-3152, option 2, to start a home-meal inquiry; the office is at 670 Harmon Avenue.

The organization posts hot and frozen meals, menu plans, and nutrition support; after an application, it reviews funding eligibility and sets a start date. Someone who already has a case manager should ask whether their benefit includes home-delivered meals. LifeCare may connect clients with other home services, but each service has its own availability and assessment.

People who can leave home can use Senior Dining Centers in several counties. For participants age 60 and older, the suggested contribution is $1.50, and the organization says no one is turned away for inability to pay. Some locations have transportation by reservation; schedules and frequency vary by site, so call the local center before traveling.

Meal delivery can support nutrition and a wellness check, but it does not replace medical care or personal-care hours. During intake, explain whether the person can answer the door, heat food, follow a menu, and be available at delivery time. Ask about dietary plans, delivery pauses, address coverage, and any individual cost before starting.
