About Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago
This is the main consular contact for Japanese nationals living across ten Midwestern states, from large cities to remote communities. Online passport filing is now available, but counter service, delivery time and any postal route still depend on the document. Online filing does not mean that every step can be completed by mail.
The Consular Section handles passports, certificates, family-register and nationality matters, overseas voting and visas. Cultural and educational enquiries go to the separate Japan Information Center in Suite 1000. The official site distinguishes visa questions from services for Japanese nationals and directs visitors to procedure-specific instructions.
The consular office is in Suite 1100 at 737 North Michigan Avenue; the main number is 312-280-0400 and the listed consular email is ryoji1@cg.mofa.go.jp. General office hours differ from document reception, which ends at 4 p.m. We could not verify a reliable numerical Google Maps review score for this exact listing.
