Seventh & Dolores Steakhouse, also known as 7D, is a modern American steakhouse-style restaurant located on the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and Dolores Street in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The venue occupies a modernist building originally constructed in the 1970s as a bank, which over time has become a landmark of the city's urban landscape. In 2017, Gregory and Madigan Ahn, along with their team from the Folktale Winery in Carmel Valley, transformed the space and launched the restaurant.

Culinary concept and cuisine

The 7D kitchen combines classic steakhouse tradition with a contemporary, relaxed vision. The menu changes with the seasons and draws on the products of California's fertile land and the Pacific Ocean, while also incorporating influences from the team's travels. Highlights include all-natural meats from Niman Ranch, with cuts dry-aged for 28 days, and a burger that the house presents as especially celebrated. The offering is rounded out with fresh seafood and a menu of craft cocktails and wines.

Executive Chef Raymundo Jimenez Aquino leads the kitchen team in a glass-enclosed kitchen, visible to diners.

Spaces and service

The restaurant offers dinner service in indoor and outdoor areas, and includes a private room with a fireplace for groups of up to 36 people. The patio, covered with a pergola, features fire pits and numerous heaters for cool coastal evenings, and welcomes leashed pets. The reservation policy sets a $50 per person deposit for parties of five or more diners, which is credited to the final bill; cancellations made 24 hours in advance receive a full refund of the deposit.

Accolades

Wine Enthusiast magazine included Seventh & Dolores Steakhouse in its list of America's 100 Best Wine Restaurants of 2019.

Hours and additional services

The restaurant is open Wednesday through Monday for dinner service, from 5 to 10 pm. It also offers the option of placing online orders for pickup, as well as the purchase of gift cards. The website provides information on upcoming events and the organization of private events.
