About D.A. Taste Larkinville
Buffalo comfort food inside a taco
Dominick Buster and Azrael Essex began D.A. Taste in June 2020 after losing restaurant jobs during the pandemic. They sold food through social media, built a following for birria tacos and moved from a South Buffalo convenience-store counter to Abbott Road and then a larger dining room at 864 Seneca Street. Larkinville gave the business room for sit-down service as well as takeaway.
The cooking follows a different path from a traditional street-taqueria menu. Beef birria remains a core order, but smoked brisket with mac and cheese, honey-garlic fried chicken, jerk chicken and a shrimp po’boy-style taco broaden the range. The smoked queso and slow-cooked meats are part of the business’s established approach, documented in interviews with the founders.
Honey-garlic chicken combines fried chicken with smoked-queso mac and cheese, sauce, sesame and scallion. A Philly-style taco uses shaved steak, caramelized onion and smoked queso. The jerk chicken preparation adds pineapple pico and a sweet-hot habanero sauce. These are substantial composed fillings, so two different tacos can give more variety than repeating one large order. A taco combo pairs selected tacos with a drink, chips and queso; current checkout choices determine which fillings qualify.
Seneca Street ordering
The restaurant is at 864 Seneca Street, next to the neighborhood’s donut shop and distillery. Larkinville’s business directory publishes 716-314-6515. Pickup and delivery are offered through the merchant ordering listings, which show service beginning at 11 a.m.; the available days and final slots should be taken from the selected checkout.
The older Abbott Road address is now listed as D.A. Catering with limited service, rather than a duplicate of the Seneca dining room. Favorable public accounts often mention birria and lemonades, while some diners find the richer, heavily filled tacos expensive for the portion. This is a choice for composed comfort-food tacos, with prices and size considered together.
