About Austin Community College — Rio Grande Campus
Rio Grande occupies the former Austin High School building, constructed in the early twentieth century, near the Capitol and museum district. The architecture preserves the site’s school history, while the interior serves as an urban campus for transfer courses and career programs. Because it sits downtown, plan the trip around transit and the exact classroom building.
ACC lists an ACCelerator, American Sign Language interpreter training, Human Services, and the Army Software Factory, a technology-learning partnership with the Army. Student support and a food pantry are also available. The range makes Rio Grande distinct from the district’s larger suburban facilities: it adapts a historic building for specialized programs and everyday study.
ACC provides free parking on its properties on a first-come basis and subject to posted restrictions. Its downtown location serves students combining classes, support services, and other activities in the city center; the campus map identifies the buildings and parking areas.
