About The Scottish Bee Company

The Scottish Bee Company: Scottish honey and pantry products with purpose

The Scottish Bee Company is a Scottish company founded in 2017 by Suzie and Iain Millar. Its activity focuses on making pure honey and Scottish food products with minimal processing, under criteria of sustainability and authenticity. The company is part of Natural Larder Collective, a community of British producers who share an interest in provenance and the country's ingredients.

Honeys: heather, blossom and limited editions

The honey range includes heather honey, blossom honey, Signature honey, honeycomb honey and a limited-edition 227 g Scottish summer runny honey. Heather honey is presented as a product harvested directly from the Scottish moors during the short, intense six-week heather season. The company states that this honey contains ten times more manganese than any other honey in the world and describes it as a superfood with antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Signature honey was rated five stars by Benjamina Ebuehi of The Guardian, as reported on the company's own website.

Dressings, infused vinegars and condiments

In addition to honeys, the company sells dressings such as mustard with honey, raspberry with honey and lemon with honey, also available in mini formats. The infused vinegar line includes combinations of strawberry with peppercorn, raspberry with thyme and blackberry with sage, also in mini versions. In the condiments section there are hot honeys such as Kimchi Hot Honey and Scotch Bonnet Hot Honey, as well as hot honey drizzles and chocolate spread.

Pantry selection and podcast

The company maintains a pantry product selection called Our Larder, which brings together pure honeys, dressings, vinegars, hot honeys and gift bundles. This selection is presented as a sample of food and drink products from guests of the Love Your Local Larder podcast, produced by the company itself. The site also offers recipes and a blog.

Commitment to pollinators

In 2018 the company created the sister charity Repollinate, dedicated to supporting all types of pollinators through education and wildflower projects. According to its account, every purchase contributes to this cause. The company also participates in Buy Women Built, an initiative supporting women entrepreneurs.

The website has a wholesale section and applies free shipping on orders over £40 within the United Kingdom. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and the shop operates with shipping to the United Kingdom, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey.
